the list about songs with lists in them

no blog for a while. the dog ate my homework, my alarm didn't go off, i got trapped inside a TV drama called List, it wasn't as successful as Lost and was on Prime but you know, stuff has been happening.

during this period of extended brain hibernation i got  thinking about lists and then, lists and music. simple stuff i know but titillating nonetheless.

you wouldn't believe how many songs there are out there that pay homage to the functionally sexy list. you're flabbergasted and exited at the same time aren't you. i can tell by the way you're breathing.

obviously i was in heaven when i realised that like me, even musican's like to make lists and some of those little ditties have become damn near anthemic.

#5 - Kiss Is On My List/Hall & Oates. how could you not fall for someone that went to the trouble of putting YOUR kiss on their list. so it's not just a given everyday occurrence but something worthy of a note. so sweet.

so cool, hot and intense all at the same time.

this is an awesome cover of the classic by The Bird and the Bee. lovely lovely vocals yes?

i appreciate the minimalastic music video here. who needs smoke and mirrors?

#4. We Didn't Start the Fire/Billy Joel. this list wouldn't really be acceptable or complete without this little history lesson. impressively stays true to list format the whole way through.

it takes sheer genius to come up with something that rhymes with 'hypodermics on the shore.'

#3. 88 lines about 44 women/The Nails. basically a list of someones various conquests and all their quirky little, ah, quirks right down to vegetable fetishes and scientology. the video is a little "interesting." ( read: interesting like, "that's an 'interesting' haircut.")

"kelly was a blogger girl, she wrote blogs in a list" - maybe that wasn't catchy enough to make the song cut.

#2. It's the End of the World As We Know It/R.E.M. i'm really just in awe of the fact that Michael Stipe doesn't appear to run out of breath during those tongue twisting verses, also that Peter sings this on Family Guy ... and anyone who knows the first verse of this song verbatim, word-for-word, i salute you.

billy j and mike are on to something with this whole stream of consciousness lark. wordsmithery = yes!

and at the top of my top 5 ...

#1. We Care Alot/Faith No More. because they really rock AND roll. this isn't the original vid with Chuck Mosley but mike and the gang in their prime! and they sing in list, i knew there was a deeper connection between us than just fluro bike pants and patterned undercuts.

1. about the Garbage Pail Kids, they never lie
2. about Transformers cause there's more than meets the eye
3. about the little things, the bigger things we top
4. about you people yeah you bet we care a lot

mike you big silly, you forgot to put on your shir ... oh, don't worry.

any songs that make it onto the top of your list of songs with lists in them?
